Tormented Dreams [No.1]
I saw her again last night. In my dreams. For another night I was taunted by her appearance and for today, I am reminded of all that she has done to effect my life.
'I awoke amongst the rubble of a broken house. The damn earth creatures attacked in the middle of the night again. Are we to paying for over using the planet? Are these creatures here to eradicate enough human life in order to save the planet from ultimate destruction? These questions have yet to be answered among the public, but maybe to the private, they have already been answered. Either way, I knew that I had to survive.
I stumbled out of the rubble and walk to my house to start my day. By the time that I got home, my father had already left for the day. He left a couple of guns on the counter for me to bring to protect myself against the earth creatures. I open the freezer, looking inside to see what food I would like to eat for breakfast. There wasn't much in the freezer. A couple of frozen food bags that contained taquitos, fried chicken or churros. We didn't have much of the healthy food because it has become scarce when the earth creatures showed themselves. People believe that the earth creatures eat the healthy food straight out of the ground and no one has disagreed about that hypothesis yet. I open the frozen fried chicken, place three pieces on a plate and stick it in the microwave. After starting up the microwave for three minutes, I walked to the other side of the house to grab my school supplies and my backpack to stuff the supplies into. Also, I change my clothes to something without holes in them. I walk back to the kitchen, pull out my plate of food from the microwave and start to dig in. No one knows what their last meal will be anymore. No one knows when and where the earth creatures will strike, so, we carry weapons with us all the time. Schools were one of the places that took the longest to get the approval of carrying weapons. Churches still have a ban on weapons because they still believe that their god will save them from demise, but I think that they are easy prey this way. It is only a matter of time until the earth creatures think the same thing.
I finish my plate of food, rinse the plate and grab my bag and a couple of weapons off the counter and head out to school. Usually, my father drops me off at school, because, like most other parents, he is worried about his offspring, but since I didn't come home until after he left, I must walk to school alone. My friends and I started a small resistance group against the earth creatures. We station ourselves around the town during the night to protect the people within from the earth creatures. We've been at this for a couple of months. The first night we had lost more than half of our small resistance group. My best friend was one of them. I also received a pretty nasty cut that night from my right cheek bone to the beginning of my right ear. It was cut open from one of the earth creatures jumping on top of me. My best friend shot it off of me, but he saw the blood on my head and got a little too worried. A creature then jumped on top of him, but I didn't move fast enough to stop the creature from cutting deep through his skin. He later died from loss of blood. I stayed on the battlefield for awhile longer making sure that nothing came to take his limp body away, only to return it to his alcoholic mother. I make sure that a battle like that doesn't happen again against the town. There are many people I want to protect and the girl I dream about is one of them.
I arrived at school without any earth creatures coming up to attack. The sky was bright and there wasn't a cloud around. Maybe they don't enjoy a lot of direct sunlight. First thing was to drop my weapons off at my locker. We weren't allowed to carry them around the school because the teachers believed that we would get into fights and possibly kill one another with the weapons, so the students had to put their weapons away in their lockers. Her locker was down the hall from mine and every day, I couldn't help but stare at her. Everything about her was perfect. Her hair was free and flowed perfectly with and without the wind. Her skin looked smooth and youthful. Maybe she could feel the weight of my eyes on her shoulders. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her and she probably knew. She and I dated beforehand. We knew each other very well; however, after we split, we became strangers to one another. Her personality changed, and I lost a dear friend, but we still felt a strange connection between us.
On the bus ride home today, she turned around to me and mouthed, "come over" giving the gesture for come. I wasn't the best at reading lips, so the gesture helped to let me know what she mouthed to me. When her stop came, I followed her off the bus, but a kid stood in between us. I ran past him, but as I did, I caught a glimpse of his distasteful look towards me. I walked next to her until we reached her apartment complex and walked up into her loft. The room was dirty and random articles of clothing and materials were strewn everywhere. This wasn't how I remembered the place. There was a knock at the door, a man was on the other side. He was called in by her. Who is this person and why is she letting him in so carelessly? He wrapped his arms around her and started to grope her. I stood witness to this for a longer time than necessary to react. I didn't know if they were together or not, until he started to reach lower. His hand starting to move slowly over and around the lower portions of her body enraged me. I pushed him aside and started to punch and kick this man for his actions. She stood witness as I did this. I guess that she didn't have emotions for the man, but instead wanted help to get rid of this man entirely from her life. I wouldn't stop beating the guy, even when blood drooled from his lips and the crackling of his bones could be heard with each hit. She reached out to me, lightly touching my shoulder. Her touch caused an uncontrollable emotional outcry. I didn't want her to witness this so I grabbed my belongings, secured my weapons and left into the wasteland from her apartment to my house. The setting sun colorized the sky with a light purple on the few clouds that there were. I could feel the world trembling below me and there were earth creatures about, but I didn't care travelling past them. I wanted to be as far away from her as I could after the show I had just witnessed.
Earth creatures came out of the ground, surrounding me.
This would be my final bout.'
